Yesterday, on Sunday 7th September, Natasha, Maxine, and myself hosted a plantbased picnic at Tanya’s Cafe in London: an event for health conscious young Londoners could meet, mingle, eat, and talk about their passion: food. Our first event in August was organised fairly spontaneously only a few days beforehand, and yet almost 20 people came, each bringing a delicious dish to share. Afterwards, the demand for us to host another picnic was overwhelming, to the point where we decided to organise an indoor venue, a Facebook group, and an event page to get an idea of numbers. As the days counted down the RSVPs went up and up, and the frantic planning and organising was all paying off. So far so good, everything was going to plan!
I have to admit that on the day I was quite nervous, but once we set everything up and people started arriving it was such great fun. The venue was fantastic (thank you Tanya’s Cafe!), the food was just amazing, and everyone who came really made it special. The colours, the flavours, the smells, the juices… just thinking about it makes me wish I could go back and do it all over again!
On top of all that, almost everyone who came was able to take a goodie bag home filled with delicious treats and discounts. The bags were sponsored by Well To Do London, and contained goodies from Content Beauty, Coco Zumi, Organic Super Blends, Love Raw, Punch Foods, Rude Health, and Rebel Kitchen! Also one lucky winner of the best and most beautiful dish won an amazing prize from Neal’s Yard Remedies!
It was so wonderful and overwhelming to see so many people at the picnic, and to get the chance to talk to some really inspiring people. If I didn’t get the chance to talk to you properly this time or you weren’t able to come then fear not! We are really hoping this will be a monthly event and will do our best to plan the next picnic very soon.
