I’ve had this for breakfast, for lunch, as an afternoon snack, for dinner, and even instead of popcorn whilst watching Game of Thrones! It tastes just sweet enough and you barely get a hint of greens, yet the colour is amazing. If you’ve thought about trying a green smoothie but are a bit freaked out by some of the combinations out there I definitely recommend you try this one. It’s the perfect green smoothie for beginners or for those with more of a sweet tooth. I strongly recommend you use a really ripe banana for this, or otherwise add some pineapple for sweetness.
Serves: 1, makes around 2 cups or 450-500mL
1 cup plant milk (I usually use almond or coconut)
1 large ripe spotty banana
1 big handful spinach
100-200g pineapple (optional – add for extra sweetness or if you can’t eat bananas)
What to do:
Simply blend everything first on low speed and then for at least a minute on high speed to avoid any chunks of spinach. You want it to be really nice and smooth.
Serve in your favourite glass, jar, or a pineapple bowl if you’re feeling adventurous! I like to top mine with some desiccated coconut or goji berries.
